Professor Dr. Naksit Coovathanachai received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tasmania, Australia, and a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Heat Transfer from London University, England. He started working for the Thai government as a lecturer at Prince of Songkla University. His continual dedication to his professional path as a lecturer and a researcher yields evidence in the incessant stream of textbooks and research studies leading to his appointment of professorship in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Technology.
Professor Dr. Naksit Coovathanachai is a retired government official at national offices, namely Advisor currently holding several key positions to the Secretary of National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office; Senior Advisor to the President of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi; Member of the Higher Education Commission; Member of Thammasat University Council; Member of Mae Fah Luang University Council; Member of Prince of Songkla University Council; Member of Suranaree University of Technology Council; Chairman and Committee Member of the Graduate School Academic Advisor in Energy and Environment of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi; and Chairman and Committee Member of the Academic Advisor of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University.
Professor Dr. Naksit Coovathanachai was entrusted with numerous executive positions in educational institutes, namely, in chronological order, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Vice President of Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University; and President of Walailak University. At the same time, he held several other positions at national offices, namely Chairman of Biomass Energy Working Committee, National Research Council of Thailand; Delegate of Thailand in ASEAN Renewable Energy Research Commission; and Advisor and Journal Editor of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Africa, Latin America, U.S.A., Europe and many countries in Asia.
In recognition of Professor Dr. Naksit Coovathanachai's national and international contributions, Naresuan University is honored to award Professor Dr. Naksit Coovathanachai an Honorary Doctorate in Renewable Energy.
