Objective / mission
1. Be excellence on water-treatment and water-purification technologies and water quality assessment
2. Develop alternative technologies and innovations in water treatment
3. Transfer knowledge, technologies and innovations to communities and industries.
4. Train under-graduate and post-graduate students to be expert in environmental engineering and related fields
5. Establish academic collaboration between countries

Research Focus
The research can be broadly categorised as following:
- Treatment and purification technology : Biological process, adsorption process, and advanced oxidation process
- Pollutants removal : Organic compounds, nitrogen and phosphorus, heavy metals and microorganisms
- Materials synthesis and characterization : Mesoporous and zeolite from waste materials
- Performance of lab-scale and pilot-scale system : Solar energy applications
