NU promote Thailand to be the leading producer of the rice bran oil.

         Naresuan University in collaboration with Thai government sector and 22 sectors of rice bran oil entrepreneurs in Thailand andoverseas organized the 4th international conference on rice bran oil 2017 (ICRBO 2017) on August 24-25, 2017 at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

         This conference was held to consolidate academic potential. Technology and Innovation of Thai Rice Bran Oil Industryby 27 speakers, invited from both rice bran oil companies and expertisers in fields of rice bran oil nutrition, cosmetics and nutraceuticals have presented to propagate and exchange currentknowledge to 200 participants from over 13 countriesin the conference.




         Asst. Prof. Dr. Riantong Singanusong Director, Centre of Excellence in Fats and Oils, Naresuan University Secretary-in-General of International Association on Rice Bran Oil (IARBO) said that,

         “The quality standards of rice bran oil produced in Thailand from all 9 companies, where most were guaranteed by international standards. This indicates the acceptance of both domestic and foreign consumers. And the production potential of the Thai rice bran oil industry. Thailand also has rice as the main economic crops that grow and harvest naturally. It has a lot of annual output and is sufficient for the current bran oil industry. More than 800,000 ton of rice bran is used to produce the oil each year which values to about 7,000 million baht. The defatted rice bran is used in the feed industries 640,000 ton or 4,480 million baht each year. 65-75% of crude rice bran oil goes to refining process to produce edible rice bran oil. Thai rice bran oil is exported to about 40 countries around the world which has the value of about 2,000 million baht each year. Some of the by-product of refined rice bran oil are waxes, defatted rice flour, proteins, lecithin, and fatty acids which has the value of about 5,530 million baht.”

           The center, has more than 30 researchers with sufficient instruments for research. It gained a lot of support from the Naresuan University and has many collaboration with government and private companies both in Thailand and overseas, hope to promote Thailand to be the leading producer of the rice bran oil.
